At a glance

Body plastic surgery at a glance

The best body surgery looks like your own body, refined. The goal is a natural, proportionate shape, with tightened skin and smooth contours that hold over time.

Abdomen and waist

A tummy tuck tightens loose skin and muscle; liposuction removes stubborn fat and refines the waist.

Buttocks and shape

A Brazilian butt lift and high-definition liposculpture reshape and define the body contour.

After pregnancy or weight loss

A mommy makeover or body lift restores the body after children or major weight change.

Arms and skin

An arm lift (brachioplasty) and body lift remove loose, hanging skin for a firmer shape.

Intimate and non-surgical

Labiaplasty refines the intimate area; non-surgical body contouring treats smaller concerns.

One surgeon, one plan

Dr. Sayed combines procedures thoughtfully so you reshape the whole body in one recovery.

Why Dr. Sayed

Body surgery rewards judgment and proportion

A good body result is about balance, not just removing fat. Dr. Sayed shapes the whole silhouette, tightens skin where it is loose, and keeps the result proportionate to your frame. Double board-certified, he plans combined procedures around one safe recovery.

Procedures

Body procedures at a glance

You do not need to know which procedure you want before you come in. Part of the consultation is matching the right procedure, or combination, to your body and goals.

Each area of the body has its own procedure. Here is a quick map of what addresses what.

Body procedures Dr. Sayed performs

Most body plans combine two or three of these, planned around your safety and a single recovery. Dr. Sayed maps it out with you at the consultation.

Start with the most-requested procedure, a tummy tuck

Surgical or not

When surgery is the answer, and when it is not

Surgery is the right tool once skin has lost its elasticity or muscle has separated: loose abdominal skin, hanging skin after weight loss, or a stubborn shape that will not change. Liposuction removes fat but does not tighten loose skin; a tuck or lift does.

Dr. Sayed offers both surgical and non-surgical options, so the recommendation is honest. If non-surgical body contouring will meet a smaller goal, he will say so before suggesting surgery.

The reverse is also true. Once skin and deeper tissue have truly loosened, no device replaces a tuck or a lift. Knowing where that line sits is the value of an in-person exam.

What to expect

What body surgery with Dr. Sayed looks like, step by step

Every body is different, but the path from first visit to final result follows the same arc.

Preoperative markings before body plastic surgery

01

Consultation

Dr. Sayed examines your body, listens to your goals, and maps which procedures fit, surgical, non-surgical, or a combination.

02

Planning

He plans incisions where clothing hides them and sequences combined procedures around a single safe recovery.

03

Surgery

Most body procedures are outpatient or a short stay under general anesthesia, reshaping fat, muscle, and skin together.

04

Careful closure

Skin is tightened and closed in layers so scars stay low and fine and the contour holds.

05

Recovery

You go home with dressings, sometimes a drain and a compression garment, and Dr. Sayed follows you closely.

06

Settling in

Swelling eases over weeks and the final, shaped result shows over the following months.

Risks of body surgery

All surgery carries risks: bleeding, infection, swelling, fluid collection, changes in sensation, and healing problems, which are higher in smokers. Each specific procedure carries its own, which Dr. Sayed reviews with you.

Most are uncommon and temporary, and Dr. Sayed explains how technique and aftercare lower each one.

When surgery can wait

If you are still losing weight, planning a pregnancy, or your concern is mild, he may recommend waiting or starting with non-surgical options and revisiting surgery later.

The goal is always the right procedure at the right time, not the most surgery.

Body plastic surgery spans the abdomen, waist, arms, buttocks, and intimate areas. These are the core procedures, each with its own page.

Start with a tummy tuck

Tummy tuck and liposuction

A tummy tuck tightens loose abdominal skin and repairs separated muscle; liposuction removes stubborn fat and refines the waist.

Often combined for a flatter, firmer midsection.

The most-requested body procedures.

Mommy makeover and body lift

A mommy makeover restores the body after children; a body lift removes hanging skin after major weight loss.

Each combines several procedures in one recovery.

Tailored to your history and goals.

BBL and liposculpture

A Brazilian butt lift reshapes the buttock with your own fat; high-definition liposculpture sculpts athletic definition.

Both reshape rather than simply remove.

Arm lift and labiaplasty also offered.

The full list of body procedures

Cost

How much does body plastic surgery cost in Southern California?

Compare quotes on what is included: the surgeon, anesthesia, the facility, garments, and follow-up. A low number that leaves these out is not really lower.

Costs vary widely by procedure. As a rough guide in Southern California, liposuction often runs about $4,000 to $9,000, a tummy tuck about $8,000 to $15,000, and a mommy makeover about $15,000 to $30,000, depending on how much is done.

What moves the price

Which procedure. Liposuction of one area costs less than a tummy tuck or a full mommy makeover.

Combining procedures. Addressing several areas together adds cost but saves on a second anesthesia and recovery.

Anesthesia and facility. Longer, combined surgery means more operating-room time.

Surgeon experience. A double board-certified surgeon is priced accordingly, and it shows in the result.

Financing. Monthly payment plans through third-party lenders spread the cost.

Recovery

Recovering from body surgery

Recovery depends on the procedure, but most body surgery follows a similar arc: up and walking within a day or two, back to desk work in one to two weeks, and full activity by about six weeks.

Surgery day

Outpatient or a short stay, home with dressings, often a compression garment, and manageable soreness.

First week

Rest and gentle walking. Any drains are usually removed this week; keep the garment on as directed.

Weeks 2 to 3

Most people return to desk work and light daily activity, still wearing the garment.

Weeks 4 to 6

Light activity resumes, then full exercise once Dr. Sayed clears you.

Months 2 to 6

Swelling fully resolves and the final, shaped result settles.

Body recovery, the essentials

Compression. Wear the garment as directed to control swelling and support the new shape.

Scars. Placed low where clothing hides them, they fade over about a year.

Walking. Early, gentle walking lowers clot risk and helps healing.

Exercise. Full workouts once cleared, usually around six weeks.

Weight. A stable weight keeps the result looking its best.

Final result. Natural and settled over several months as swelling resolves.

Questions

Body plastic surgery: your questions answered

What body procedures does Dr. Sayed perform?

The full range: tummy tuck, liposuction, high-definition liposculpture, Brazilian butt lift, mommy makeover, body lift, arm lift (brachioplasty), and labiaplasty, plus non-surgical body contouring. Many patients combine two or three in one recovery.

Should I have surgery or non-surgical body contouring?

It depends on how much has changed. Small pockets of fat can respond to non-surgical contouring, but loose skin, separated muscle, or a larger change needs surgery. Liposuction removes fat but does not tighten loose skin.

Can I combine body procedures?

Yes, and many patients do. A mommy makeover combines a tummy tuck, liposuction, and breast surgery; liposuction pairs with many procedures. Combining addresses several areas in one recovery, planned around your safety.

Will the results look natural?

That is the priority. Dr. Sayed contours to your frame and tightens skin in proportion, so the result looks fit and balanced rather than overdone.

How long is recovery from body surgery?

It varies by procedure, but most patients are back to desk work in one to two weeks and full activity by about six weeks, with swelling settling over several months. A compression garment is worn for a few weeks.

Where are the scars?

Body surgery incisions are placed low, where underwear or a swimsuit hides them. They heal as fine lines and keep fading over about a year.

Am I a candidate for body surgery?

Healthy adults at a stable weight with realistic goals are usually candidates. Good general health and not smoking matter, and it is best to be finished having children before a tummy tuck or mommy makeover.

How much does body surgery cost?

It depends on the procedure. As a rough Southern California guide, liposuction runs about $4,000 to $9,000, a tummy tuck about $8,000 to $15,000, and a mommy makeover about $15,000 to $30,000. The consultation gives an exact quote.

How do I choose the right procedure?

You do not have to decide alone. Describe what bothers you, and Dr. Sayed maps it to the right procedure or combination. Often the plan is simpler than people expect.

Is body surgery painful?

Most patients describe tightness and soreness rather than sharp pain, controlled with medication in the first days. A tummy tuck is more involved than liposuction; Dr. Sayed sets expectations for each.

Do you offer surgery after major weight loss?

Yes. Dr. Sayed performs body-contouring surgery after major weight loss, including body lift and arm lift, to remove hanging skin and firm the shape.

How long do body surgery results last?

With a stable weight, results are long-lasting. A tummy tuck and lifts are essentially permanent, though skin ages; large weight changes or a later pregnancy can affect the result.

Do you treat men?

Yes. Dr. Sayed performs body surgery for men, including male liposuction and body contouring. See the men plastic surgery section for male-specific pages.

Why choose Dr. Sayed for body surgery?

He is double board-certified in plastic surgery and general surgery, trained at UCSF and Harvard Massachusetts General Hospital, with more than 20 years shaping natural body results across Southern California.

4.6Based on 37 Google reviewsRatings and reviews from Google MapsI am so grateful to have found Dr. Sayed! I did a lot of research beforehand and took my time to find the right plastic surgeon for me. I had a breast lift and augmentation. I was looking for a more natural look and nothing too drastic. Dr. Sayed’s bedside manner is very reassuring. He always takes the time to thoroughly answer all my questions, while providing a great deal of knowledge about the procedure. I am beyond happy with my results and I feel more confident than ever! Thank you, Dr. Sayed and his wonderful team! They have been absolutely fantastic every step of the way!Sheri SummersGoogle review · a year agoThe staff at Dr. Sayed’s office was very helpful from start to finish. Their professionalism was outstanding and I felt very comfortable from the first day that I walked into his office for consultation. Dr. Sayed made me feel very confident in his procedures and reassured me that I would be well taken care of. Dr. Sayed is a true artist and really cares about his work. He has a compassionate demeanor not only during consultation but every step of the way assuring me that I was in good hands. The emotional support that I received from staff members far exceeded my expectations. My breast explant surgery went according to schedule with no problems and 100% satisfaction.Jessica HollowayGoogle review · 3 years agoI had my first set of implants 15 years ago and received my second set of implants 3 years ago after having a single mastectomy due to breast cancer. When I discovered the breast implant illness group and associated website so many of my mysterious symptoms/illnesses seemed to make sense. I also discovered (not having been told by my previous surgeons) that implants are not lifetime devices and need to be replaced every 10 -15 years. I decided that I did not want to keep going under anesthesia every 10 years or so and if removing them could add quality to my life (I'm only 46) having them removed was worth it. Finding a surgeon that had the experience, confidence and care needed for my situation was not easy. Dr. Sayed was the fourth surgeon I met with in the San Diego area and the only one who met all of my needs. He and his staff are kind, caring and skilled. Even knowing that I had already had several consults, he explained the full process to me as though it were my first, which really put me at ease with his level of knowledge and skill. I am 3 months post-op and I am very happy with my decision to have my surgery with Dr. Sayed. The procedure itself went smoothly and recovery has been fairly easy. Dr. Sayed is truly a skilled surgeon and I highly recommend him.Sarah GGoogle review · 4 years agoRead all 37 Tim Sayed MD reviews on Google Review your visit on Google
