Facial Plastic Surgery, La Jolla

Facial Plastic Surgery in La Jolla

Facial plastic surgery covers procedures for the brow, eyelids, nose, ears, cheeks, jawline, and neck. At your La Jolla consultation, Tim Sayed MD examines the areas that concern you and discusses which procedure—or combination, or non-surgical approach—fits your anatomy and goals.

The La Jolla consultation office is in University City, at 4510 Executive Drive, Suite 210, San Diego, CA 92121. Consultations and follow-ups take place here. Surgery is performed only in accredited operating rooms separate from both consultation offices, not at the University City office.

Ask about cases similar to yours, which procedure he would recommend first, and how complications or revisions are handled.

Midface and lower face

Facelift, with fat transfer when needed, lifts jowls and deep folds and restores lost volume.

Neck and jawline

A neck lift tightens loose skin and bands for a clean jawline, often paired with a facelift.

Nose and ears

Rhinoplasty refines the nose; otoplasty reshapes prominent or misshapen ears.

Non-surgical options

When surgery is not yet needed, injectables, skin treatments, and fat transfer can do a lot.

One surgeon, one plan

Dr. Sayed combines procedures thoughtfully so you address the whole face in one recovery.

Procedures

Loose skin, descended tissue, and structural concerns generally need surgery. Fine lines, texture, and mild volume loss may respond to non-surgical treatments such as neuromodulators, filler, or skin treatments. Your consultation should cover both, including the option of no treatment.

Combining procedures—for example, a brow lift with eyelid surgery, or a facelift with a neck lift or fat transfer—can mean one recovery period, but it can also lengthen surgery and change risk. Ask whether combining is right for you.

Facial surgery risks

All facial surgery carries risks, including bleeding, infection, anesthesia complications, scarring, numbness, asymmetry, nerve injury, unsatisfactory results, and the need for further surgery. Each procedure also has specific risks, listed on its page.

Nicotine use, blood thinners, and certain health conditions increase risk. Seek urgent care for sudden vision changes, difficulty breathing, rapidly increasing swelling, or chest pain.

Cost

Facial surgery cost for La Jolla patients

Cost depends on the procedure and on whether procedures are combined. The current published guides are about $4,000–$9,000 for upper or lower eyelid surgery, $10,000–$18,000 for rhinoplasty, and $15,000–$30,000 or more for a facelift; see each procedure page for others. The same guide applies at both consultation offices; it is not a La Jolla-specific market price.

Request a written quote for your proposed plan. Ask which fees it includes, such as the surgeon's fee, anesthesia, and facility fees, and what could add to the cost. Insurance rarely covers cosmetic surgery; check with your insurer if a functional concern is involved.

Recovery

Recovery and returning to the University City office

Recovery depends on the procedure. Smaller procedures may take days; eyelid surgery, brow lift, and rhinoplasty often take one to two weeks before patients feel socially comfortable; a facelift or neck lift may take longer. Swelling can continue to settle for months, and rhinoplasty swelling can take a year or longer.

Plan for help at home, keep your head elevated as directed, and follow individual instructions for activity, exercise, and driving.

Questions

Facial Plastic Surgery in La Jolla: common questions

What facial procedures does Dr. Sayed perform?

Brow lift, eyelid surgery, facelift, neck lift, rhinoplasty, otoplasty, earlobe repair, facial fat transfer, and male facelift and neck lift. Each has its own page.

Should I have surgery or a non-surgical treatment?

It depends on the cause. Loose skin and structural concerns generally need surgery; fine lines and mild volume loss may respond to non-surgical treatments.

How much does facial plastic surgery cost for La Jolla patients?

It depends on the procedure. Current published guides are about $4,000–$9,000 for upper or lower eyelid surgery, $10,000–$18,000 for rhinoplasty, and $15,000–$30,000 or more for a facelift. The same guide applies at both offices; request a written quote for your plan.

Can I combine facial procedures?

Often, yes—for example, a brow lift with eyelid surgery, or a facelift with a neck lift. Combining changes surgery time, recovery, cost, and risk.

Will the results look natural?

The goal is a rested, balanced appearance. Results depend on anatomy, technique, and healing, and they vary. Review photographs at your consultation.

How long is recovery from facial surgery?

It depends on the procedure, from days for smaller procedures to several weeks for a facelift. Swelling can take months to settle fully.

Where are the scars?

Incisions are usually placed in natural creases, inside the nose, behind the ears, or within the hairline. Scars fade over time, but healing varies.

Am I a candidate for facial surgery?

Candidates are generally healthy, do not smoke or can stop as directed, and have realistic goals. An examination determines what fits.

How do I choose the right procedure?

Start with what bothers you most. The examination identifies whether the cause is skin, volume, structure, or position, which guides the recommendation.

Is facial surgery painful?

Discomfort varies by procedure and is usually managed with prescribed or recommended medication. Report severe or worsening pain.

Do you offer revision surgery?

Revisions of earlier facial procedures may be possible. They can be more complex; bring prior surgery records.

How long do facial surgery results last?

Many results are long-lasting, but aging continues. Durability depends on the procedure, skin quality, and lifestyle factors.

Do you treat men?

Yes. Male facial surgery is planned around a masculine jawline, hairline, and beard.

Why choose Dr. Sayed for facial surgery?

Review his qualifications above, and ask about experience with cases like yours, the alternatives, and how complications are managed.

4.6Based on 37 Google reviewsRatings and reviews from Google MapsI am so grateful to have found Dr. Sayed! I did a lot of research beforehand and took my time to find the right plastic surgeon for me. I had a breast lift and augmentation. I was looking for a more natural look and nothing too drastic. Dr. Sayed’s bedside manner is very reassuring. He always takes the time to thoroughly answer all my questions, while providing a great deal of knowledge about the procedure. I am beyond happy with my results and I feel more confident than ever! Thank you, Dr. Sayed and his wonderful team! They have been absolutely fantastic every step of the way!Sheri SummersGoogle review · a year agoThe staff at Dr. Sayed’s office was very helpful from start to finish. Their professionalism was outstanding and I felt very comfortable from the first day that I walked into his office for consultation. Dr. Sayed made me feel very confident in his procedures and reassured me that I would be well taken care of. Dr. Sayed is a true artist and really cares about his work. He has a compassionate demeanor not only during consultation but every step of the way assuring me that I was in good hands. The emotional support that I received from staff members far exceeded my expectations. My breast explant surgery went according to schedule with no problems and 100% satisfaction.Jessica HollowayGoogle review · 3 years agoI had my first set of implants 15 years ago and received my second set of implants 3 years ago after having a single mastectomy due to breast cancer. When I discovered the breast implant illness group and associated website so many of my mysterious symptoms/illnesses seemed to make sense. I also discovered (not having been told by my previous surgeons) that implants are not lifetime devices and need to be replaced every 10 -15 years. I decided that I did not want to keep going under anesthesia every 10 years or so and if removing them could add quality to my life (I'm only 46) having them removed was worth it. Finding a surgeon that had the experience, confidence and care needed for my situation was not easy. Dr. Sayed was the fourth surgeon I met with in the San Diego area and the only one who met all of my needs. He and his staff are kind, caring and skilled. Even knowing that I had already had several consults, he explained the full process to me as though it were my first, which really put me at ease with his level of knowledge and skill. I am 3 months post-op and I am very happy with my decision to have my surgery with Dr. Sayed. The procedure itself went smoothly and recovery has been fairly easy. Dr. Sayed is truly a skilled surgeon and I highly recommend him.Sarah GGoogle review · 4 years agoRead all 37 Tim Sayed MD reviews on Google Review your visit on Google
